August 2015 – Community Clean-up

2015-08-01-Community Clean-up

Thank you very much for your continued support for supporting me to make Pollokshields a tidier and nicer place to live in.  Your contribution have made significant difference and we can do a lot more but obviously with your help and support.

Back-courts Cleanup
Residents of Pollokshields are invited to join us to carry out the back-courts cleanup.  All the residents who will come out on Saturday 1st August will cleanup their own back-court.  We are changing our approach from 1st of August, as in the past we were only concentrating on Square Park and surrounding streets where as now we are going to target each block and residents of that block will clear their own blocks.

Those who are unable to make it to the clean-up, can you please inform your neighbours, if they have any bulk it furniture or anything else that needs to be disposed, please leave it on the pavement before 1.00pm this Saturday ONLY.  As a part of our cleanup initiative, we have agreed with the Glasgow City Council that they will uplift on First Saturday of each month as a part of our cleanup.  If residents left their bulk rubbish any day apart from our cleanup day it will be considered as Flytipping and there is £200.00 fine.

We will meet up outside Pollokshields Library Kenmure St & Leslie Street Corner for briefing and then we will start clean-up.  Happy to help with mowing lawns if needed.  For further information, please contact me (Tahir Mohammed) on 07412 469 957 or email me at Tahir.mohammed@gmail.com
Please forward this email to all your Pollokshields Contacts.

Quads Clean Ups

We are going to change the cleanup approach as 1st of August. Previously we cleaned up the MAxwell Square Park and sorrounding streets, but from 1st of August residents will carry out the clean-up of their front and back gardens.

We will have various meeting points and where Team leaders for each Quad will give briefing about what’s to be done and how it is going to be done and also where residents should put all the rubbish they have gathered.

Please find the plan below for each quad:

1. Clear out all the bulk furniture
2. Cut the grass where possible
3. Trimm the hedges in front and back gardens
4. Empty the bins
5. Wash the bin and binsheds sheds
6. Move all the rubbish on the pavement and we will get it uplifted by LES

The new approach will help us target much bigger area and residents will b able to clean their own front and back gardens. This will help us keeping our neighbourhood tidy and also people will think twice before flytipping.
